Product Overview
1. Standards: In accordance with GB/T 265‑88, ASTM D445, ASTM D446, ISO 3104, and ISO 3105, this instrument is used to determine the kinematic viscosity of transparent and opaque liquids, including crude oil, light and heavy fuel oils, lubricating oils, additives, and waste oils. It may also be employed for the determination of kinematic viscosity of plasticizers as specified in GB/T 1660‑2008.
2. Temperature Range: Room temperature to 120°C ± 0.01°C, continuously adjustable across the entire range; equipped with a genuine German‑imported PT100 temperature sensor; optional refrigeration unit available for measuring low‑temperature viscosity.
3. Temperature Control System: The system employs a temperature control unit from Eurotherm (UK), with an accuracy of up to 0.01°C. Additionally, the control system features a memory function that progressively reduces heating time while maintaining the desired constant temperature.
4. Viscosity range: 0.2–10,000 mm²/s. The Ostwald viscometer is equipped with capillaries of Φ0.6 mm, Φ0.8 mm, Φ1.0 mm, Φ1.2 mm, Φ1.5 mm, and Φ2.0 mm; custom‑made capillaries can be supplied upon request. The capillaries are easy to remove, and the scale markings are adjustable.
5. Bath Volume: 10 L; above room temperature: custom‑made methyl silicone oil.
6. Timing Detection: Utilizes high-temperature fiber-optic sensing to detect on/off states, unaffected by fresh or aged oil; detection sensitivity can be digitally adjusted.
Timing range: 0–3000 s; Repeatability: ≤0.01 s; Reproducibility: ≤0.02 s.
7. Cleaning System: A pulsed‑type cleaner that repeatedly rinses the viscometer using volatile solvents such as petroleum ether or alcohol. The instrument automatically draws in the cleaning solution, and both the spent sample and the rinsing liquid are automatically transferred to a waste‑collection vial. Both the cleaning‑solution container and the waste‑collection vial are equipped with sealed lids, ensuring that no corrosive liquids come into contact with the operator during use.
8. Display Function: A 10-inch color LCD touch screen with a fully Chinese-language operating interface, supporting 16 user‑definable and selectable programs. Additionally, it features access‑control functionality to prevent non‑professional users from modifying the instrument’s critical parameters.
9. Operating System: Windows XP; the software is upgradeable and uses the Jingzhou Chuangbo operating software.
10. Number of holes and number of experimental runs: A two-hole design ensures no interference between the holes, with 7 replicates (user‑configurable), and an automatic timing function that excludes results falling outside a 0.5% repeatability threshold.
10. Error Correction: Users can set parameters according to actual conditions, enabling rapid calculation of measurement results and associated errors. If the measured result exceeds the allowable tolerance, the instrument will automatically initiate a re‑measurement. Calibration must be performed using standard oil samples to correct for any errors.
11. Safety Features: The instrument is equipped with a built-in heating bath safety protection system. If the heating unit malfunctions and exceeds the preset maximum temperature of 155°C, the device will automatically shut off to prevent fire hazards or rupture of the bath. Additionally, the instrument includes a liquid-level detection function; heating will cease if the liquid level falls below the required threshold.
12. Automatic Functions: After the operator injects a 10 mL sample, the instrument automatically performs constant-temperature control, automatic filtration, automatic testing, automatic timing, automatic calculation, automatic data storage, automatic printing, automatic disposal of waste samples, automatic injection of cleaning solution, automatic drying, and automatic shutdown, among other automated functions.
13. Data Acquisition: The instrument automatically stores over a thousand measurement results and features a built-in 20‑column dot‑matrix micro thermal printer, enabling automatic printing of experimental data. Printed reports include parameters such as the duration of each measurement, the average time, the capillary constant, and the final viscosity value.
14. Correction Function: Temperature and sensor calibration are supported.
15. Interface Outputs: USB/RS‑232 communication interface for interfacing with a host computer, facilitating integration into a centralized management system. The instrument can be connected to a LIMS system and can also be operated via a PC or a touch screen; (additional charge applies for the PC option).
16. Voltage and Power: AC 220 V ±10%, 50 Hz; Power: 1000 W. A reliable grounding wire is required. Operating environment: 10°C to 30°C. A fume hood system must be in place, and the unit must be protected from drafts.
