JCB1884-01 Liquid Petroleum Product Density Meter (Hydrometer Method)
Category:
This instrument is a specialized testing device designed and manufactured in accordance with the national standard GB 1884-2000, “Laboratory Determination of Density of Crude Oil and Liquid Petroleum Products (Hydrometer Method).” It is suitable for determining the density of liquid petroleum products. The hydrometer method is most appropriate for measuring the density of transparent, low-viscosity liquids; it can also be used for viscous liquids, provided that the petroleum hydrometer is allowed to remain in the sample long enough to reach equilibrium. The sample should be brought to an appropriate temperature and transferred into a hydrometer cylinder whose temperature closely matches that of the sample. Then, insert a suitable petroleum hydrometer vertically into the sample and allow it to stabilize. Once thermal equilibrium is attained, read the scale on the hydrometer and record the sample’s temperature. If necessary, place the hydrometer cylinder containing the sample in an appropriately controlled constant‑temperature bath to minimize temperature fluctuations during the measurement.
